By air (arrive at the Akita Airport)
You can take domestic flights from the international airports in Japan listed below. If you arrive at Osaka, you will need to change airports from Kansai International to Itami. If you arrive at Tokyo Narita, you will need to change to Haneda or train.
- From Tokyo: HANEDA Airport (about 65 mins)
- From Osaka: ITAMI Osaka International Airport (about 90 mins)
- From Nagoya: CHUBU Centrair International Airport (about 90 mins)
- From Sapporo: NEW CHITOSE Airport (about 60 mins)
From Akita Airport to Akita Station (city center):
- Limousine Bus (~900 yen, 40 mins)
- Taxi (~8000 yen, 30 minutes )

By train (arrive at Akita Station)
From Tokyo station or Ueno Station the Akita Komachi Superexpress (shinkansen bullet train) takes about 3 hours and 40 minutes and costs around 18,000 yen. If you arrive at Osaka or Nagoya and would like to take the train, you need to go to Tokyo first and change there.
Akita Station is very close to the conference location and the majority of the hotels.
